Weekend recap:
I went out on Friday night with "the girls" to see Bridget Jones's Diary. Again. And it was as good the second time as it had been the first. The element of surprise was gone, but it's written well enough that you still feel for the character, even when you know what's going to happen. Anyway, it was also nice to hang out with most of my friends at the same time. Generally, I tend to interact with my friends one-on-one, so few of my friends really know one another. It's good to know that they all like one another.
Saturday I got to test drive an Alfa Romeo and a 2000 Miata for a friend who was looking to get a nice little car, but wasn't really comfortable with a stick-shift just yet. As someone who will probably never own a really nice car, it was fun to toodle around in someone else's convertible. My friend ended up getting the Miata, and I drove it home for him. My confidence in my ability to drive has been restored.
Then I went to a great party, where everyone wore light-colored t-shirts, and markers were handed out at the door. Despite fears that people would be shy about writing on others, or having others write on them, everything turned out wonderful and much writing ensued.
And yesterday I went to IKEA to get a desk and ended up buying many things, but not a desk. So I get to go back up there tonight to get ... a desk. How much fun is that??*
And, just like last week, I finished off the day with Alien³ and XFiles. This time, though, XFiles was about aliens ... in fact, as we watched Ripley get a CAT scan and saw the alien growing inside her, I thought about how similar it was to Scully's experience, and realized that we had just missed the first 10 minutes of XFiles. Sidenote: I'll be glad when XFiles is over. It was fun while it lasted, but they're having a tough time finishing out the season in an interesting manner.
