I'm having so much fun! A problem with anticipating things that all your friends did last year and you've been looking forward to since then is that the reality often falls far short of the hype. Not this time. I've met lots of really cool people, hung out at some really great places, and basically had the time of my life.
An overview:
Friday we came in around 4:00, unpacked and rushed off to Michael's place for a pre-Break Bread With Brad get-together. From there, we headed over to the dinner, and then to a Polly Esthers for karaoke, where Jish and Brad sang love songs to each other, and Bryan surprised us with his awesome singing voice.
That was the first day.
Yesterday we dragged ourselves out of bed just in time to head over to the kickball game. A tip: if you are of northern European ancestry and suffer from a skin condition known as sunburn when exposed to the sun, it is best to invest in a product known as 1) a hat and/or 2) sunscreen before spending several hours in the middle of the day in a park. Just a thought.
So yeah. JessaJune and I and several other such persons of northern European ancestry are sporting faces closely resembling the color of ripe tomatoes and the temperature of small space heaters. Ouch. I could buy that hat now, but the damage is done. And I'd have to carry it home on the plane. Maybe I'll just get some sunscreen.
So anyway ... we went back to the hotel, put on a lot of makeup to (try to) cover the red and headed out to the parties. Met more people. Drank more beer. And danced the night away, something I haven't done in waaaay too long.
So now we're up and looking forward to the Iron Webmaster Showdown and Fray Cafe. Oh, and some panels.
