I'm Home now, visiting with Daisy and my parents. I'd visit with my brothers too, if they were home more often. But that is not to be. Oh well. I don't think I qualify as the Cool Older Sister (tm) anymore. *sigh*
My parents have an interesting little virus on their computer right now. It's a fairly new machine ... I think they bought it for Christmas, with XP loaded already and everything. But now when they boot up the computer, it says it can't detect the keyboard. But then it can. It gets more interesting: They'll start typing stuff, either in email, or Word or whatever, and things will be ok. Then the cursor will stop, and a beeping sound follows, like when you're going too fast for the computer and everything has to stop till it can catch up with you. When the beeping is done, then they can type again, but the intervals between beeping/catching up get shorter and shorter till the beeping is continuous and nothing can be done. At this point, they have to shut down the computer (if they can).
I have subscribed them to Norton AntiVirus, which found 17 infected files which have been quarantined.
I have reloaded the keyboard drivers from the system recovery cd.
I have done the system cleanup and disk defragmenter.
Everything is the same.
I honestly don't know what to do at this point. If nothing else, I supposed I'll have to take it in for them to get it worked on. Does anyone have any advice? Ideas? If anyone can supply the solution, I will buy you something from your Amazon wishlist. Really.
I hope y'all are having a fantabulous weekend.
