Enough residents think the libraries are either too expensive, unnecessary or a violation of their basic rights that supporters of the library district are clearly worried.

Violates their basic rights? WTF?!? Libraries are generally considered a cornerstone to a free society, ensuring that everyone has free and equal access to information and education. Our tax dollars get handled in many ways that we have no control over, by much less qualified people than those who make decisions about books.
