"It's times like these when it becomes clear how much I need to learn to speak cat."Along the same lines, in the course of my job supporting products that are sold globally, we often have to converse (usually in email, thankfully) with people who begin the conversation in their native language. Our standard responses have already been translated into French and Spanish and are stored in general email folders for all to use. However, when we have to move beyond the standard responses, then things can get interesting. We've been instructed to use sites like FreeTranslation and Babel Fish, but even I can tell that the results are less than ideal. Case in point:
Please:Well, he speaks better English than I do Spanish, that's for sure.
Could you write me in english?. I can't understand your message in spanish, is horribilis!
