This weekend is Carnaval in San Francisco, touted as "the largest multi-ethnic community-based artistic celebration in California."

I have a friend who will be participating, "in samba whites, banging a huge drum. [He is] a member of Sambaô, a samba group that will be the eighth group marching in the parade on Sunday. [They] will have the grand marshal of the parade, Carlinhos Panderu de Ouro, on [their] float. The parade starts at 10:00, so [they] should be beginning soon after that."
