So I admitted to my boss yesterday that it would be better for me to waste my time in the comfort of my own home than waste my time at work, and after 6 hours of listening to me hack and sniffle, he agreed.
So I went home, started some laundry and went to the grocery store to stock up on orange juice, allergy medication, and bagels. Not unlike preparing for a siege, where you know you won't be able to get out, and no one
So the allergy medication I chose was Clariting-D, the 24-hour flavor. I called one of my Canadian friends from the store, thinking that since they have been able to get this stuff over the counter for longer than we have, that he would know a bit more about it than what I could get off the back of the box. It being about 5:30 at this time, my main question was "am I going to be able to sleep tonight?" My friend was under the impression that the drug companies had been putting stuff in allergy medication to make people fall asleep to begin with rather than that being the natural reaction, so he didn't think that there would be any harm in getting the Claritin.
Ha. Maybe it's because I might have a cold instead of allergies, but the Claritin didn't really kick in till about 4 a.m. And guess what! I was awake to experience it. That's right. I was in bed and trying to sleep at 10:30. Woke up at 11:30, 12:30, 2:00, and 4:00. I was awake when my alarm went off at 5:00 a.m.
Now I have a full day ahead of me, and I have to figure out what sick people who can't sleep do with their time. I know, I'll probably be online all day. That's the ticket!
