Be your own Disneyland.

Life update, with the understanding that I'm hormonal and feeling sorry for myself right now:

I should be sitting in traffic on the Bay Bridge, heading into the City to watch a very good friend perform in a cool venue in about 20 minutes. But I can't seem to make myself get back in my car just yet. Maybe tomorrow. Sorry, Jem. At 3 p.m. today, I had every intention of seeing you tonight. I'll make the next show. Promise.

Does anyone read this site any more? I don't check my referrers much, since the script I was using to have it display on this page started popping up ads every time I moused over it. I know the guy running the service has to make money back somehow, but gosh. In any case, I have a vague sense that 99.9% those visiting here are here for the random search queries, running along the same themes as always: sexy librarians, the Olsen twins, and party chicks.

My brother called to tell me he's coming up to the Bay area tomorrow. Unfortunately, he told me this after I made plans to be at Angel Island all day. But I'll get to see Lily all the same (and her parents!!), even if it's only for a few hours, so all is not lost. But that's a lot of driving, since "Bay Area" covers a huge amount of ground, and they'll be staying about 70 miles away from Oakland.

I was in Dallas last weekend. Got to see my dad and his wife, his stepson from his second marriage, who brought his family, and a bunch of DFW bloggers. A fun time was had by all, as well as a lot of food. In other news, I usually scorn air conditioning, but I tell you what, we spent a whole lotta time inside the house/mall/theater while I was there. I didn't even pretend to try to acclimate. It just don't get that hot 'round here.

My neighbor has a group of girlfriends, one of whom has a cute daughter, and they get together every once in a while and sound like they're having a great time. Why don't I have friends like that? For my group of friends to get together, it seems to take a huge effort to get everyone's schedules together, because everyone is too busy. SEVERAL HOURS LATER (count, 6): I wish they weren't having such a good time, 'cause the constant screaming and screeching of 5 women and a toddler having a good time is getting way old.

So the printer in our office has developed a squeak. I knew I was sensitive to sounds, but I didn't realize that something could get under my skin and drive me up the frickin' wall while others couldn't hear it even after I pointed it out to them. In any case, between the screeching printer and a dumbass call that just wouldn't go right, 2:59 p.m. today found me on the verge of tears. My boss even offered to let me go home early. Just the offer made me feel better and I dried my weepy tears. I like my boss.

There's more, but I have to be at the Oakland Ferry building at the ungodly hour of 9 a.m. tomorrow (it's midnight now).

Hope y'all are doing well!
