We've had a bunch of problems with pit bulls lately here in sunny (ha!) California, which is sad, as I understand that with the right training, they can be very sweet and nonviolent pets. Unfortunately, there are lots of people who think it's really cool to have a pit bull but don't want to take the time/effort/care to train them appropriately, or recognize that they are animals and should be treated accordingly, and so people get hurt. Really really badly hurt. And when that happens, and when it happens alot, the poor things end up in the pound by the loads.
