SXSWi, Saturday:
Slept 2 a.m. - 9 a.m. Not nearly long enough.
Sat around with hostess friends till almost noon.
12:30 p.m. - Had homemade egg salad sandwiches for lunch, the first of my life. Verdict: how did I not know how good these were before!?
2:55 p.m. - finally left for the Breakups 2.0 panel.
3:25 p.m. - Got badge, found room, was underwhelmed by the venue (really? 5 panels in one room with no separators? Seriously?). Panel was mostly entertaining, what I could hear.
4:45 p.m. - found friends, hung out for an hour or two, made dinner plans, left.
8 p.m.- all you can eat BBQ at the County Line. OMG. So good. Surprisingly, going to the bathroom was just as entertaining, what with the Learn to Speak Cowboy soundtrack playing overhead (think Eliza Doolittle, post elocution lessons, teaching you how to speak cowboy)
10:30 p.m. - at home, blogging about my day, wondering if anyone would be awake if I headed back downtown. Should call and see. Really not interested in the 16bit party. I know! How boring am I?!
UPDATE (3:30 a.m., post daylight savings spring forward trick):
11:00 p.m. - omg, so many people trying to find parking in downtown Austin. Wth is going on?!? And what's with the hoochie mammas traipsing around in micro minis, CFM heels and backless tops? It's fucking 30 degrees out here, people.
11:10 p.m. - found random parking spot on the street. Which was good, because I had all of $1 in my wallet, and all parking lots were pay first, $7.
11:15 p.m. - 1:45 a.m. - spent evening in Hilton bar/lobby. Reminiscent of past years at the Omni, but not so many folks.
1:55 p.m. - realized on my way home, after missing the exit from 35S->290W because I was trying to text message someone (eek! stupid!), that I have been in Austin for 48 hours and I haven't had an alcoholic drink yet. Not sure how I feel about this. Suppose it makes up for the excessive cheese, bbq sauce and chocolate I've been indulging in for the last 48 hours.
Diet, exercise and general good health starts on Tuesday. I swear.
